The Watford Community Housing Trust has improved the lifestyles of 25 of their social tenants by providing them with recycled computers.
The lucky recipients of these invaluable gifts were decided on by a special competition run in conjunction with a not for profit company which refurbishes discarded IT equipment and reinvests the money it makes from all sales back into community-based schemes.
The director of Housing and Neighbourhood Services at the Watford trust, Ruairi McCourt, discussing the competition, noted how important computers and the internet are in helping people lead fulfilling lives in the modern world; explaining that things like utility bills and job applications are often most easily sorted out online, he also pointed out that claiming benefits will soon be a website-based process.
The provision of Devon computer support and similar services elsewhere is vital in ensuring that businesses and members of the public alike are able to truly get the most out of the IT products they own. Naturally this means that new equipment is purchased - as a local IT Support company, VPW Systems (UK) Ltd plays an active part in supporting charitable initiatives, by ensuring that instead of being thrown away, the equipment is refurbished and allocated to local Registered Charities so it can be re-used to help others.
In addition, as part of our ethical and ethos committments, we provide reduced rate services to elligible local charities and non-profit organisations, as well as supporting a number directly through complimentary IT services.
