Internet services in mid-Devon are set for a boost, with new, high-speed, fibre-optic broadband due to be installed in the Cullompton area.
The new service will be available to around 3,300 homes and businesses in the area, providing a real boost to customers using VPW Devon computer services. The town is one of three on BT's current upgrade lists, with engineers working hard to install the technology over the coming months.
Cullompton is one of the first mid-Devon towns to receive the service, though BT did report that Tiverton is to be upgraded later this year. Those waiting for upgrade news for Crediton, however, will have to wait, as no installation date has been set for the town.
The new fibre-optic service will offer speeds of up to 330Mbps, while 40-80Mbps is more likely for most. This means at best, speeds could be over thirty times the current average which sits at just 9Mbps, and is an important step forward for connectivity in the region.
At VPW we've been offering our customers Fibre Broadband for some time and offer a range of Small Business Broadband products, and the team can help make internet faster for your business. Find out more about when you can/can't get fibre broadband with our Fibre Broadband primer.
