There was some great news for homes and businesses in Somerset recently, with the announcement from BT that fibre optic broadband was now live in parts of the region.
The improved connections have been rolled out to around 4,500 premises in Somerset, with properties in Wellington, Yeovil, Portishead, Clevedon and Frome able to benefit. The improved connections represent a step forward for Somerset computer services, with the majority of BT street cabinets in the towns connected to the fibre optic network. The Wellington exchange has also been upgraded to make use of the faster FTTP (Fibre to the Premise) connections.
This means we can now offer our Fibre Business Broadband Service to customers in these areas - speak to our team to find out whether Fibre has reached you and how we can improve your Broadband Service - even if you're not lucky enough to have Fibre yet, we have a range of services that can make Broadband faster for your business.
It's worth noting that the recent upgrades are part of BT's own commercial plans and not part of the wider BDUK project, which aims to connect 90 percent of properties in the county in the next few years. It's expected that by spring 2014 over 226,000 locations across Somerset will have received the improved connections.
