E-Mail Services - E-Mail Essentials Standalone Packages
Assistance on using the e-mail packages, sending e-mail and using the Web Mail service

My POP3 mailbox keeps running out of space, how can I stop this from happening?

The most common reason for this to happen is where your email client is configured to leave your messages on the server rather than delete them once you have downloaded them. The simplest option is to disable that setting so that the messages are deleted from the server once you have finished downloading them. In some situations you may need to keep some of them on the server, in which case there are generally two other options (the exact names may differ) you can choose :

1. "Remove from server after x days" - If you have another device collecting your email, for instance a mobile phone, this will keep the messages on the server for long enough for you to collect them while ensuring they are not left there indefinitely.

2. "Remove from server when deleted from 'Deleted Items'" - This will tell the server to delete those messages that you have deleted from your email client, eg spam messages etc, otherwise even once deleted locally they are still stored on the server. Note, they have to be removed from your Deleted Items folder for this to take effect.

The exact location of these settings differs between email clients, but can generally be found with the rest of your account details, possibly in an "Advanced" section.
